Hot things to do in Phoenix

Phoenix is known for many things, from its sports teams to its party attitude: but the number one thing people mention is its heat.  This city hits temperatures above 110 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer: and that’s not the only hot thing.  There’s a lot to do in this desert city that you wouldn’t think possible!  Instead of spending your time here soaking in a pool, here are the top hot things you’ll want to do.

Phoenix Helicopter Rides

Why be down on the ground baking when you can be cutting through the air?  A few companies offer helicopter rides in Phoenix, with many bragging about the incredible views they can get at day or night.  With the propeller pushing down endless air on top of you, and the fast motion keeping that air moving, you won’t feel the heat.  All you’ll feel is a sense of weightlessness and excitement.  This may not be the best choice for someone afraid of heights or quickly motions sick, but it’s easily a top way for locals to have fun.

Cave Spelunking

The best way to get out of the summer heat is to go deep into the ground itself.  Cave spelunking in Phoenix is older than the United States itself is.  Following guides, you can explore deep into old mines and beautiful natural caves and get to know a side of Phoenix many don’t try to understand.  The natural caves are breathtakingly large and striking in color, and it allows explorers to feel small and insignificant within them.  Like a cathedral, there’s something heavy and incredible in these areas.

Rock Climbing

Instead of going into the rocks, consider climbing on top of them!  Before Phoenix real estate popped up, and before people were trying to force the dessert into becoming multiple golfing resorts, rock climbing was the best way to enjoy the land.  Climbing over cliffs, getting to know the land stone by stone as the ground falls away beneath you, can be a heady and exciting feeling.  You won’t know what to do with all of this extra energy, but you’ll want to come back for another round!

ATV and UTV Rentals

Videos of 20-somethings tearing away into the desert on ATVs have been imagery of youthful and fun summers for as long as ATVs have existed.  Much of that type of footage is shot in the Phoenix area because of the endless beautiful sand and desert.

To rent an ATV or UTV, you have to be over 18 with a driver’s license and the ability to sign a waiver.  You can elect to go out with a guide in many cases, but some allow the riders to be wild and free.  Trackers inside the ATVs enable the companies to track riders and ensure they’re safe, while the desert lets the riders cut loose and have fun.

Phoenix is more than just hot weather and scorching endless sand; it has a pulse all its own and can be an exciting place to get to spend any season.
